The acoustic Celtic consort “Road to Galway” will be appearing at the Rustic Barn Pub on Saturday, March 3, to kick off the St. Patrick’s Day season!
Founded in 2008, Road to Galway offers audiences the opportunity to experience lively interpretations of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century traditional Celtic instrumental tunes, performed on traditional and modern instruments. Drawing on the beloved custom of Irish pub sessions, intricate arrangements of jigs, airs, reels, and hornpipes are all delivered with a freshness akin to improvisational jazz. The show starts at 7 pm so that you can enjoy the Rustic Barn's special Irish dinner while listening. Chuck Valentine, who plays with School Bus Yellow, Lucky Valentines, and other Capital District ensembles, is a local guitarist, composer, musician and educator, and mesmerizes audiences with his virtuosic finger-style guitar technique. Sandy Decker (flute, accordion) and Bill Decker (bass guitar) hail from The Bear Bones Project.
