Cabaret meets Dirty Boy Rock
Rob Piorkowski – guitar, vocals. Rob began his musical career playing and singing in the streets, clubs, and restaurants in southern France. In an acoustic duo, he cut his teeth with songs by Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Young, and assorted country/blues tunes. Once stateside and settled in the Capital District, Rob began playing with City Lights, an established rockin’ R&B group. After one original album, this band became Urban Gumbo, whose album (11 stories) won critical acclaim both locally and nationally. With those projects, The True Tones, and now Diva ... Rob has been fortunate to play some great stages ranging from The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall to the infamous Manny's Car Wash in NYC.
*Lisa Gordon- Vocals/Harmonica/Percussion* An alumni of Manhattan School of Music, Lisa began in musical theater and her own musical review in NYC. Before moving back to the Albany area, she enjoyed a 5 year run starring in an original production, “Bourbon Street Naughties”, by Composer Fred Palmisano; featured at famous NYC cabarets: The Duplex, Don’t Tell Mama’s and more. For the past 10 years her calendar has been packed with “The True Tones” and “Diva & the Dirty Boys” gigs. She enjoys composing and has recorded the original works of local and NYC composers in pop, country, rock and musical theater. She has recently added harmonica to her list of talents!
Peter Iselin- Keys/Vocals. Peter studied with renowned jazz pianist Lee Shaw and the late legendary jazz saxophonist Nick Brignola, followed by undergraduate studies in music composition at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. He was co-leader of the ‘70s-era “horn band” Back Bay Brew, which brought raucous funk music to clubs up and down the East Coast. A lifelong entrepreneur, in 1978 Peter founded the Albany, N.Y.-area alternative newsweekly Metroland, sold it in 1995 and moved to L.A., where he lived for 13 years while working as an entertainment executive. Family concerns brought Peter back east in 2008, and though he had little interest in playing live again, the irresistible charms of Diva and the Dirty Boys brought Peter kicking and screaming out of semi-retirement.
